Alex is 9 Months Old!

My baby...my baby....my baby is 9 months old and is growing so fast. Alex has developed so rapidly recently it is hard to remember what all he has done this past month. It seems like every day is he trying something new or making a new noise or sound.

Some highlights from the past month include:

- Alex learned how to switch objects in his hands BEHIND his head. It has been so amusing to watch this becuase he can only do it with certain toys and he doesn't realize sometimes that if he has TWO toys in his hands he can't switch the toys to his opposite hand. But nonetheless, he has figured out that if he puts an object behind his head he can switch hands. We always praise him when he does this and he gets the biggest goofiest smile on his face.

- Alex learned the "passing game". Alex's newest trick is "sharing" with Mommy and Daddy his toys. When he doesn't throw the toy across the room, he has started "sharing" his toys with us. He will be content for a long time to sit with us on the playmat and give us his toys. I always tell Alex that his latest gift is the best present that he could ever give me and give him a kiss. Usually he wants his toy right back, but sometimes he gives us a toy smiles and continues playing with something else.

- Alex has started to wave and point. At his doctor's appointment yesterday he kept waving and pointing at the doctor. I sure hope he didn't give her a complex... Anyway, Alex now waves at everything...the dog, his pooh friends on his mobile, Mommy Daddy, toys, the Christmas tree. All receive equal waving attention.

- LOVES to play peek a bo. This activity can keep Alex entertained forever. He loves playing peek a bo with mommy. We play peek a bo everywhere. We play in on his mat, in his high chair and in his crib. He always tries to find me and when he does gives out this great laugh. It is the best thing ever!

- Alex is rolling everywhere now. This is his primary way of getting around since he isn't crawling yet. Just about every morning now we come into his room and he is on his stomach. He actually started rolling over at 4 months, but went on rolling over strike for a couple of months. Now I can't stop him...even when I try to change his diaper he is trying to roll over naked to get to a toy or an object. Rather annoying.

I know there are more things that Alex has done this month that are new and exciting it is just so hard to keep up with them all. We had his 9 month well visit yesterday and he is now weighing in at 17lbs 1 oz (10%) and is 28 1/4 in long (50%). So he had a MAJOR growth spurt between 6 to 9 months as he was in the 10% for length at 6 months. Everything else is going well. The doctor said that Alex looked great and is developing as he should. The next well visit will be at 12 months. I can't wait to see what the next three months will bring.

Here are some pictures I took last Thursday on his 9 Monthaversary.....
