Ultrasound Results are In!

As I posted last week, we had the opportunity to see Alex again via ultrasound on Friday morning! It was a good and a bad ultrasound.

It was good in that from everything we could see baby is doing well, MUCH bigger than he was in our 20 week ultrasound and head down and in position to be born. He was very active, moving all over the place playing peek a boo for the camera. We were also able to get a shot of his "goods" and he is most defintatley a HE...he was not shy..even I could see his penis and testicals this time (the other times I just nodded and said I could see it when I couldn't). He even gave us a shot of his face..he has the chubbiest cheeks :)) I'm totally in love.

It was bad in that this ultrasound wasn't as exciting as our others. The monitor was turned away from me most of the time so the tech could get "measurements" so I didn't get to see him for the first 20 minutes or so..Henry did and when she did turn the monitor so I could see, it was only for a few minutes and then she gave us one picture which is not all that good....bummer. But I can live with that as long as baby is OK.

We left the doctor's office without knowing his approximate weight, etc and we were told that it would be discussed at our next appointment. Well, the doctor called today. I was totally not expecting to hear from the office at all..let alone the doctor. Anyway, he said that everything looked good and that Alex is measuring in the 80% percentile for growth. He said as of Friday his approximate weight was about 7lbs and that they anticipate that at birth he will be in the low to mid 8 lb range (eek!)! He also said that I have slightly higher than normal levels of amniotic fluid and that combimed with my "slightly larger than normal baby" is what is causing my uterus to measure big. He did say that it is absolutley nothing to worry about.

I guess when I see my doctor on Thursday we will discuss "options". I can't believe it, but I will almost be 38 weeks pregnant at that time! I don't know if they will let me go past my due date now or if they will want to induce early due to his size. I know that 8lbs is considered a healthy baby, so not sure what the next step is. Here's to hoping we don't go PAST my due date!
