No Baby Yet

Well, here I sit...February 28th and still no baby. In fact, he shows no signs of wanting to come out at all. Obviously the walking did not help, nor did the eggplant recipe.

I had my 39 week appointment with my doctor yesterday and no progress (well almost none). The two important things...the baby dropping and my cervix thinning are not happening, which means this baby does not want to come out. I am 1 cm dialated though! However, the doctor did not seem too impressed by this :+). We have an appointment next Thursday and if nothing changes by then, Henry and I will have to make some decisions regarding trying to induce vs. scheduling a c-section the following week (or the second week of March).

The doctor thinks that if everything remains the same as it does now, that I am a good candidate for a c-section. He said that there are several factors that lead to his recommendation. 1) he said that they could try to induce, however, if the baby doesn't drop or what they call "engage" and my cervix doesn't thin, then the probability that I would end up with a c-section after hours of labor is very, very high and 2) That the baby is on the "biggish" side and since I am not, trying to push him out may cause damage to both the baby and myself..especially if he is overdue. As Henry put it to his mother last night: "The baby keeps getting bigger and Brynn is not". I would rather have a more painful recovery and know that the baby is OK, than possibly cause damage to him in the form of a broken collar bone, etc.

So, the next week will be the tell all week. I guess my baby likes to prove people wrong too. For all those people who said "there is no way you will make it to March or your due date" HA! Showed you! :+) This baby may be OVERDUE! Especially if he keeps going on the track he is currently going down.
