The Internet is a Bad Bad Place

So as I posted a few days ago, the doctor called with my ultrasound results and as he reported the baby was weighing in at a little under 7lbs and my amniotic fluid levels were on the higher side... So being the technologically savvy woman I am, I started researching what this means....

So, it turns out that there is a name for this "condition" and it is called polyhyhydraminos and basically this condition can cause all sorts of problems with the baby from swallowing problems, to gastrointestinal problems to heart problems, etc. Of course, reading this made me start to FREAK out. I was convinced my poor son had a problem with his heart and along with that I started having some minor contractions and the baby has slowed down his movements (both of which are very common at this stage in pregnancy) and I was even more convinced that something was wrong. So, I asked Henry to go with me to my doctor's appointment today in case they decided to talk about "options" regarding delivering early or whatever.

Um yeah....so today was my doctor's appointment...38 week one to be exact. I ended up seeing the same doctor who called me with the results and who initially told me I was measuring big, so he was familiar with my history (coincidentally, his name is also Alexander). Anyway, he came in and again spoke about the results..said if I were to go between now and my due date we can expect the baby to weigh in the high 7 or low 8lb range and that my amniotic fluid levels were on the higher side. So I told him I did some research online about this and was now concerned about the baby's health. He explained to me that while my levels were on the high side, they were still within what is considered the normal range..just the high side of normal. Then he turned to Henry and said that the only thing we should worry about is that Henry should carry towels with him in our car(s) because all it meant was that if my water breaks it will be a "flood"..nice, huh? He said that yes, there is a condition associated with high levels of fluid, but it is more of a concern earlier in pregnancy than I am. Then he told me to stop looking at the Internet and that he would see me next week....

He also did an internal exam and yes, as I suspected...this kid is still in no hurry to come out. He knows a good thing and that good thing is my uterus. I haven't dropped and am not dialated at all. He said that in the next couple of appointments we would start talking about options regarding if I should go past my due date. So, I am making Henry make me this eggplant parm. recipe from a restaurant down south called Scalini's . This restaurant is famous for its eggplant parm that sends women into labor. In fact, they have a wall full of baby pictures from babies that were born within 48 hours after their mothers ate there. Henry and I have actually eaten there with two of our previously pregnant friends one of who did go into labor after eating there..... They take pity on us pregnant women as they have posted the recipe online so anyone can make it. Now if they would only ship it.....

Needless to say, Henry is banning me from Google or Yahoo and doesn't quite know what to do with me with all my methods to start labor. I think he thinks I am going crazy....
