Henry and I are having a BABY!! That's right...I got a positive pregnancy test result today! I can still hardly believe it.
So this is how it went down. So as many people know, I was diagnosed back in May with insulin resistance/PCOS...which basically means that my insulin levels are a lot higher than they should be. I started taking medication and changed my diet and actually lost a few pounds in the process. :)) I started taking PG tests at the end of June and they all came back negative. I was sad, but expected it as the doctor told me it may take me a while to get my body back to the "normal" operating standard.
After not getting my period for 45 days I took another test (came back negative) and started the prometrium (which is a pill that kick starts your period). And I waited...nothing happened. On Thursday, June 29th, I thought that my period had finally started and told the doctor we were good to go. Well I never started bleeding...I won't go into any more details as I am not sure who will be reading this.
So today, while Henry was out fishing with his friend, I decided to run to Target to buy a new pack of pregnancy test. I didn't tell Henry because I didn't want him to think I was crazy or wasting money on tests that were sure to come back negative. I did it for my own piece of mind. So around 6 PM, I went upstairs and took the test. I was totally preparing myself for a negative result again. Was I in for a surprise...within seconds...I got a very strong, very clear two pink line positive result! I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!!!!
I was so psyched, I grabbed the two onsies that I had bought to tell Henry we were having a baby and ran downstairs calling Henry's name. I guess the way I was calling his name concerned Henry and he thought that something was wrong (he told me later he thought a cat had died). I run into the study and scream..We're Having a Baby...the look of totaly shock and disbelief on his face (had I not been so surprised myself) was priceless. For the first time ever, I totally caught him off guard and struck him speachless. I had the onesie's in my hand but was crying and shaking so hard I don't think I ever showed them to him until later.
Needless to say, both Henry and I are in shock. It took Henry a good 30 minutes of walking around in a daze to really grasp the concept that he is going to be a DADDY!!! By my calculations, if everything goes well...our little one will be born in late March/early April. My first line of business will be calling the doctor tomorrow!
Below are a few pictures of the onsie's that I bought to show Henry and the first positive PG test. I will be taking another one tomorrow morning.
It should be a very interesting 9 months.....
