Derby Days!

Today was the Kentucky Derby and we celebrated in style! Henry's parents graciously offered to buy us a really nice set of patio furniture for our 3 season/sun porch as our 5 year anniversary present. We have really wanted a nice set of patio furniture since we have moved in, but just couldn't justify spending the money on it with our current financial situation. Henry's parents have been the best and have been on the lookout for a good deal and we finally bought one! So on Saturday, we invited Henry's parents over for an arranging the sun porch and to watch the Kentucky Derby party.

We had a blast! I can't believe how a nice set of patio furniture transforms a room sooo quickly. It went from a room that we never used, to an actual functional space in a matter of moments! I love it! We even went out and bought a new Rubber Tree plant and some herbs for the room. I am so excited to have my own herb garden again! Alex and Grammy enjoying the new space....Our new room! The Rocking chairs are antiques from Henry's family. They once sat on the porch of a hotel in Pittsburgh that the family owned (a long time ago). I think they are over 100 years old....

After setting up the porch we decided to celebrate even more with the Kentucky Derby and Mint Juleps. We all "bet" on different horses and wouldn't you believe that not one of them won! I think Henry's horse had the best showing and he came in 5th or 6th. I am glad we didn't bet any money on that! After the Derby we ordered dinner and had a nice family dinner together.
