14 Months Old!

On May 4th, Alexander turned 14 months old...and boy...are we in the toddler stages! I don't know what happened between months 12 and 14, but my usually sweet baby boy has turned into a whiny, disobeying little monster. (It's OK, I still love him to pieces). I have noticed recently that he is "testing" us more and more...for instance...he will do something..say chew on a book and when I say no he looks at me and deliberatley does it AGAIN! So I take the book away and well, you would think that the world is ending...he is on the floor crying, etc. Repeat this scenario in several different areas several times a day and well, you have my life right now. Henry and I are still in discussions on how we are going to discipline him moving forward. We are at the point where we know we need to start disciplining him, but we aren't sure what the appropriate method is where he will understand right from wrong.

In other development news..Alex still is walking with the support of those push walking toys. He has taken a few very small, teeny, tiny steps on his own, but nothing of significance. He is standing without the aid of anything for longer and longer periods of time...so we are watching and waiting. He is currently cutting his 6th tooth. He now (or will shortly) have 4 teeth on the top and still the 2 on the bottom. Next month is our 15 month well visit, so I will know then what his stats are...weight, height, etc.

The other cool thing he is doing is he understands words and phrases now. For example, I can tell Alex to "get mommy a ball" and he will crawl over to his toy bin, search through it and bring me a ball. He also knows who Daddy is now and will point to Henry when we ask him where "Da-da is". To my much increasing frustration, when we ask him where "ma-ma" is he just points to Da-Da again. He understands when we ask him to "give kisses" and to "pet the dog", etc. It is very cool to see his development of words and phrases. We are trying to wean him off purees, but it has been a long, rough road. For some reason he won't eat fruits or veggies when they are cut up, but will continue to eat them in pureed form. We have finally figured out a few things that work, but we are still struggling. He was doomed, he has two very stubborn parents.

I look at Alex now and am just amazed at how grown up he looks. He really does look like a little boy now. When I look at him, I still see the baby they placed in my arms 14 months ago, but he is just so big! Here are a few pictures to explain what I mean about Alex looking like a real little boy now!
