I keep hearing the saying "It's not about WHAT you know, it's about WHO you know" and Alexander and I happen to have an inside source to Station 53's Fame Firehouse....his very own UNCLE GRAIG! Uncle Graig has been a volunteer firefighter since he was 16 years old..almost 10 years now and today Alex and I (along with Aunt Kim and the little girl she watches) went to tour the firehouse and play on all the cool fire trucks.
Graig was the best! He opened all the trucks so that the kids could see inside and play in them and even gave both kids their very own Fire Chief's hat! Alex actually left his hat alone for a long period of time, which is amazing, so I was able to get a lot of great pictures of him in it.
After the kids "toured" (or in Alex's case..I carried) the firetrucks, Uncle Graig took us all for a spin around town. Don't ask me which truck we went out on, because I don't know...I just know it WAS NOT the ladder truck, but it was so much fun to see all the equipment and see West Chester from a firetruck. Alex LOVED every minute...he looked out the windows, pointed to things and waved at people on the street. We were out in the truck for probably half an hour. When we got back to the station we watched Uncle Graig back the truck into the bay and he didn't hit a THING! Me, I can't back my car into my driveway without destroying something, so this was pretty cool to me.
After the truck was parked, Uncle Graig pulled out his fire gear and let the kids try on his helmet (Alex is a bit to small for this) and let the kids touch and feel everything. He then graciously allowed us to take pictures of him in his fire gear with both kids.
All I can say is that Alex has the COOLEST UNCLE EVER! Thank you Uncle Graig! Oh, and support your local fire department!
Here are some pictures from our adventure....
