The Birthday Boy!!!!!

Well, the day has come. My baby is one year old. All day I couldn't help but think back to one year ago today. I kept watching the clock thinking.."one year ago today, where was I???" Then I would tell Alex that "one year ago today, Mommy was ready for you to come out" or at 4:00 PM (Alex was born at 4:52 PM) I told Alex that "One year ago today, Mommy REALLY was ready for you to come out." Alex just sort of stared at me with a look that said..."I don't understand Mommy."
Today Alex and I spent the day together. We started the day just like any other, the morning at home. In the afternoon Alex and I went to the mall to get his 12 month and Easter pictures taken. Overall it went really well, however, Alex decided to not sit still and instead he crawled all over the place so actually getting some good pictures was hard. That night we went out to dinner as a family to celebrate Alex's big day! We went to Red Robin and as it turns out, March 4th is a popular birthday. While we were there there were at least 4 birthday celebrations. There was actually another baby celebrating his first birthday too! After dinner we came home and we opened presents and sang Happy Birthday to the birthday boy. Then it was off to bed for the big boy.
Alex is doing so many new things now. He is crawling and pulling himself up EVERYWHERE. He is getting pretty good at it too and he takes off shrieking across the room. He can do a few signs..he can sign "more" and "milk" and we are working on others. He can shake his head "yes" and "no" and this actually provides Mommy and Daddy with endless hours of entertainment. For example:
Mommy: "Alex, do you love Mommy?"
Alex: Shakes head yes
Mommy: "Can Mommy have a kiss?"
Alex: Shakes head no
Mommy: Very disappointed
(dislaimer: we don't think he actually understands what we are asking..mainly we think it is just by coincidance that this happens...)
Which brings me to the fact that Alex loves to give kisses now. He gives Mommy and Daddy kisses, his stuffed animals kisses and sometimes his books get kisses as well. He tries to give the cats kisses, but the cats are still too fast for him and I honestly think they don't like the baby all that much.... He is making all sorts of new sounds...DADA, MAMA, BABA, etc. Mostly it is DADA to everything...including me. Unless he is tired or upset, then it is "mamamamamamamamama"
His newest stats are as follows: Weight 18 lbs 11oz (10th %), length 30 inches (50th %) and head 18 inches (50th%). So our baby is STILL a peanut! I can't believe he has been in the 10th% since he was born. I swear to you all we do feed him...A LOT. I can't believe how much the boy can pack away. However, he is crawling now, so the doctor said that they expend a lot of energy doing that. He is eating all sorts of "grown up food" now. Like mac and cheese, ham and cheese sandwhiches, waffles, etc (all broken into tiny pieces of course!).
Here are some pictures from today. I still can't believe my baby is one year old!

Dude, are you SURE he's just one? He may be a peanut, but he looks somewhat like a college kid! :) Happy birthday, Alex! Miss you all!
