First, let me say I am EXHAUSTED!!!!!!!!!!!!! But in a good way. Today was Alex's first birthday party. It was small...just family, my best friend Carolyn and her daughter Abigail, but boy....you would never know that by the amount of presents the boy received! He was spoiled! He is set clothes wise for the summer months (he got some
absolutely adorable outfits I can't wait to put on him), a ball pit (which I can't wait to put to use), a silver cup, several riding toys and a fantastic wagon (with cup holders no less ...it is the mack daddy of wagons!). Alex was in a great, all be it a shy mood, and everyone loved playing with him and holding him. It was also great because the weather was
sooooo beautiful we were able to take the babies out in the wagon for its maiden voyage.
He didn't quite get the gist of opening the presents. I guess I kind of just imagined him ripping the wrapping paper to shreds like you see in "A Christmas Story" or other such films. But he was just content to sit on our laps, suck his thumb and let Mommy and Daddy do most of the work... The same thing with the cake. We got a small "smash" cake and when we first placed it in front of him he got this look on his face that said "what is this". We had to show him that it was to eat and by the end he basically devoured half of the cake. I guess he likes sweets....
Between myself, my mom and my friend...I have a ridiculous amount of pictures from today. Let me see if I can narrow it down to just a few of my favorites...

The
Lange family...one year later....

My mom made the bib and Alex's "smash" cake

The other cake..for the "grown ups"

Alex's first plane. Brought back all the way from Seattle's Boeing plant from his Pop-Pop.
