They arrived on Saturday morning and of course, it was raining and Henry was working. Not a great start to our weekend :( We had planned on going to the Philly Zoo that day, but our plans were washed out (pun intended). Instead we spent a relaxing day at home watching the boys play together and visiting BJ's Wholesale Club. I guess Pittsburgh doesn't have a BJ's so they were very excited to get some new stuff. It sounds corny, but in actuality it was a lot of fun. We both spent way too much, but hey.... That night we ordered pizza and just chilled. They boys got a bath together and I think more water ended up on the floor than in the tub! Here are some pictures of the boys having fun!
Sunday was Father's Day of course. We started our day by taking the Daddy's out to brunch. Alex ate like a true little boy! We ordered a meal off the kids menu and the kid practically ate it all! He ate eggs, pancakes, toast, potatoes, if it wasn't nailed down it was eaten! Of course the floor at the end of the mean was a disaster, but it was so much fun to watch.
After breakfast we headed back to our place and headed to the Philly Zoo. I am so grateful we waited until Sunday to go to the zoo because the weather was fantastic! It was cloudy, but the temperature wasn't hot and the zoo itself wasn't THAT crowded, so we really got to enjoy walking around looking at the animals. I have to give a major shout out to our friend Mandy who got us into the zoo! She is the Lead Primate Keeper at the zoo and she was able to score us all some free tickets! We just had to pay for parking. I can't believe how much Alex enjoyed the zoo. HE LOVED IT. He loved seeing the animals, he loved talking to the animals, he even made sounds to mimic the animals. At one point he got mad at Mommy because I wanted to move to another exhibit and he wanted to stay and watch. It was rather funny. I can't believe what a wonderful little boy Alex was. He only had a 45 minute nap in the car and he did great!
The other really cool thing about going to the zoo on Sunday was the fact that a FoodTV network show called "Dinner Impossible" was taping at the zoo that day. Not only were they taping, but our friend Mandy was picked to be one of Robert's sous chefs! So we got to see the set and their taping. I want to write more about that experience, but will do so in my next blog posting..I have so much I want to say!
Here are some pictures from Sunday. Both at brunch and at the zoo!
