The dresser (In Cherry)
The bookshelf (I don't know who that kid is)
Our changing table (also in cherry)I am so excited! Today and broke down and totally bought some of the furniture for Alex's nursery (OK, or most of it). Do we have a room for a nursery right now, no, but the price was good and I finally decided on the style and color I wanted, so I figured what the heck...
I ordered his changing table, dresser and a bookshelf! I decided to go with the cherry wood as I am a fan of the darker wood look...I LOVED my cherry cabinets in my house. I am excited because I got a great price on them and they don't look like baby furniture, so after the kid or kids finish using the furniture, Henry and I can then use it for a guest room or for some other purpose in the house.
The only thing we haven't bought yet is the crib. We (or more specifically me) want Alex to sleep in our room for the first 3 or so months so that we don't have too far to go when he is fussing and for better access for feedings (I am planning on breastfeeding, so the less I have to stumble in the middle of the night, the better). So we figure that we will use either our pac n play or a used bassinet for the first few months and go from there. Hopefully by that point we will be in our own home and have room for a crib.
What I think I will do is set up the changer and rocking chair in our bedroom (again for easy access, etc). I may not put up/build the other two pieces of furniture yet until we get into our home and Alex has his own designated room, but I will save that decision for later :)) But at least I feel like I am making some progress here. Lately, it is kind of been the waiting game...not too much to do..but come January, I know we will be hit by all this baby stuff..classes, shower, packing for the hospital, trying to prepare for maternity leave, etc, so I know I should do as much as I can now!!!!
