The Great Naming Debate Has Ended

Well everyone, Baby Lange officially has a name now! We have decided to name him Alexander Phillip Lange and we will call him Alex (no Henry, we will not call him Lex:)) Ugh, what is it with men and their superhero fetish? I mean really, what person wants their son to be named after the bad guy?

We both love the name Alexander and it was the one name that kept popping up in any name combination that we liked and discussed. Henry really liked the idea of having a name that could be shortened to a nickname such as Alexander = Alex and I just really like the name. Alexander means defender of mankind, which we both think is a cool meaning to a name.

The middle name is special to me because we are naming him after my mothers father (or my maternal grandfather). Their last name was Phillips and I wanted to do something to honor him as he was a really sweet, sweet, gentle, caring, man and always made me feel special and I know how much he loved my brother and I while he was alive and I know how much he would have loved getting to know his great grandson as well.

I remember so many things about him, like the time he built me a doll house from scratch and even painted it and wall papered it, Easter Egg hunts at their house where he would put money in those plastic eggs and then Graig and I would have to go and find all the eggs (of course there was ALWAYS a HUGE basket of candy waiting for us too), the way he always made fun of my favorite stuffed bear as a child telling me he needed an operation and always pretending to steal him to give him said operation, taking us fishing, the list just continues and continues.

I still miss him to this day and I am so excited that my son will carry a little bit of his great-grandfather's legacy with him :)

Yay for Alex! A lovely name. :) Love the pictures - you really are starting to show! Get Henry or your parents to take some sideshots of you, though - we all want to see your cute face, seriously! Gotta document the pregnancy glow, ya know?

Miss you!
