So yesterday was another really cool experience for Henry and I. We had our 10 week appointment at the OBGYN where we got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time.
When I got into the doctors office they brought in the Doppler sonogram machine and started probing around. We heard a heartbeat (which I later found out was mine) and we thought that was it, but the doctor kept moving. As the doctor got the right side of my abdomen we heard this really fast beating...that was the baby's heartbeat. I asked the doctor if he thought it was strong and he looked at me and asked what I thought...I said "I don't know, I have never done this before." He said that yes, the baby's heartbeat was strong that usually they don't hear the heartbeat until week 11 and we heard it at week 10 :)) So it looks like things are moving ahead as they should.
I have definitely noticed changes in my body. I am already losing my waist (although I have not gained any weight yet, I have actually lost some due to my morning sickness and all around not feeling well) and my pants are getting tighter. I think that the only thing saving me right now is the fact that I lost quite a few pounds before I got pregnant, so I have a bit more "growing room" in my pants than I otherwise would have.
After the appointment, Henry and I went to Babies R Us and Target to look at all the baby stuff that we will be registering for soon :)) It was nice to have the day off together even though for most of the afternoon we just hung around the house relaxing. I wasn't feeling that well again.
The doctor also said that I could stop taking both the glucophage and the progesterone now. I was so relived to hear that as I believe the glucophage was contributing to my not feeling well overall...especially at night. I was also sick of taking so many pills at one time every day. Last night (the first night I did not take the medicine) I felt better than I had in a long time. I am still going to take the progesterone for another few weeks just to be on the safe side.
Next week, we are going to the perinatal doctors in Northside hospital to have a nuchal translucency test done to see the baby and also to test to see if the baby is predispositioned to having down syndrome.
Will update soon!
