In preparation for the new addition to our family, we decided to move Alex from the nursery into his very own "big boy room". I wanted him completely transitioned into his new room well in advance of the baby's arrival so Alex would know that the baby was not replacing him and we didn't have any meltdowns in addition to trying to adjust to a new baby in the house.
As with anything regarding Alex, the transition was much harder on Mommy then it was on him. I think it had something to do with the way we approached it and I am very proud of ourselves for approaching it in the way we did.
We let Alex be a part of almost every aspect of his new room. I picked out his furniture, but we let him help pick the paint colors, we let him talk to his Nana about what he wanted quilt wise (she is making him the most amazing jungle quilt) and we let him watch Daddy paint, put the furniture together, play in the bed as we were putting it together, etc. He was soooooo excited! He couldn't WAIT to sleep in his big boy bed for the first time. I thought for sure we would have issues with him getting out of bed and wandering around, but he has been such a good boy. He loves his new room and doesn't even care about his crib anymore!
Here are some pictures of Alex's new big boy room!
