Alex Gets Baptized!

We finally did it! We finally got motivated and got Alex baptized on September 27th. It was a CRAZY busy weekend because Henry and I had a wedding the night before and didn't get back home until late, but we managed to get to the church and on time! Alex was baptized in the same church where I grew up and where Henry and I were married so that made it extra, extra special. He looked so daper in his big boy suit and he got so many compliments. We took him to JCPenney to get "professional" pictures taken because he looked that good.

What an experience though! Alex is now running and won't sit down for 2 seconds, so I knew getting him to sit through a whole church service was almost impossible and I was proven right. We went to sit down in the pew and even before the service started he was ALL OVER THE PLACE. Walking up and down the aisle, climbing on the pew, running around with his cheerios. He got to see a lot of people that way, but Mommy and Daddy were tired!

So the service starts and thankfully the actual baptism is at the beginning of the service. They call all the families who are getting kids baptized to the front and there are like 5 kids getting baptized that day. Well, Alex started his shenanigins right away. Instead of being held nicely like all the other kids were doing (including two kids who were OLDER than him) he decided he wanted down to run around. He decided that he wanted to climb on the alter. We tried to keep him off and well, he pitched a fit. Looking back on it now it is funny, but at the time it was very embarrasing. I mean, Alex was on the floor, on his back, crying because he didn't get his way. The Pastor was nice and because Alex was pitching a fit he asked us if we would like to go first. Both Henry and I nodded YES! at the same time and it got quite the laugh out of the congregation. Surprisingly enough as soon as the Pastor dumped the water on Alex he was fine. I thought for sure that would cause a fit too! After he got baptized we let him crawl around and he was fine. When we were presented to the congregation and everyone started clapping, Alex got this HUGE smile on his face as if he personally accomplished something major. It was very cute.

Henry spent the rest of the service chasing Alex outside the santcuary of the church. The boy did not slow down once! No wonder he is in the 25% for weight!

Here are some pictures. He looked really, really cute!
