Mommy and Alex Survived the First Week

Well, I am officially a working Mommy again! Both Alex and I survived our first weeks back at work and school and it went more smoothly than I expected. There were the expected tears and grumpiness in the morning as we adjust to waking up earlier, but overall we are both doing very well in our new roles. However, I do have to admit that Alex did bring home more than an art project this week, he also brought home a cold that turned into an ear infection. As I am typing this I have taken my first sick day from work (10 days into my new job) and we have made our second sick visit to the doctor. Although it is an inconvenience, I feel so bad for Alex because he obviously does not feel well. We are working through it and Daddy is staying home with Alex tomorrow, so that should be fun for both Daddy and son.

Like I said, overall Alex's first week at school went well. There were tears every morning but shortly after I would leave every morning he would start to settle down and play. Alex did several art projects, played with bubbles, had circle time with his friends and his teacher, Ms. Sarah, and did so many other things. We had some initial adjustment problems in regards to eating and napping, but even that is getting better. Alex seems to really like his teacher and she knows me so well. She send pictures around of her class every week so that us parents can see what our children are doing during the week. Here are some pictures of my munchkin from his first week. You can see he is thriving there:

Alex playing with the sensory table.
Alex enjoys playing outside with all the cool toys.
Alex taking after his Pop-Pop and Uncle Graig. Alex likes planes.
Alex doing his first art project.
Alex has an obsession with hats right now. He goes around yelling "hat" and putting them on his head.

Playing with puppets during circle time.

My first week went very well. I really like my team. They are a great group of men and women. The company is great and has some benefits that I did not even realize they had. Like a 14 week fully paid maternity leave program (not PG now, but for the future, this is great!). I am still learning the lay of the land but am enjoying being back at work. Now that I found a better way into and out of work even the commute isn't as bad as I anticipated! Hopefully more to come...I can't believe how tired I am when I get home from work and all I want to do is play with Alex and go to bed.

Great pictures! I can't believe all the things he is doing at school. That is really awesome:) I smiled from ear to ear reading this and knowing what you have been through. I'm so happy for all three of you and the way everything has worked out. I see some of you in these pictures...hehe. But I see Henry's face in the outside pic!
