Two Weeks Old Today!

All dressed up for his first St. Patrick's Day
Alex at 2 weeks
So alert for a two week old....

It is hard to believe, but Alex is two weeks old today! The time seems to be flying by...and he is getting so big already! In honor of his Daddy, I dressed him in his "Little Monkey" outfit today...seemed very fitting for a two week old...I think he is adorable, but then again...I am very biased...

We had our first "well" visit at the pediatrician today and he is now 7 lbs14 oz and 21 in long. The doctor was so impressed that he has already reached his birth weight and then some in such a short amount of time.... Alex was so good at the doctor's...he didn't cry even when they made us strip him to his diaper. Because he is doing so well, we no longer have to keep track of his dirty and wet diapers and feeding times and they don't want to see us for another well visit until he is 2 months old.

Other than that, we have been laying low. It is hard to get out and about with a baby, especially when you are breastfeeding. Trying to schedule outings around feedings is harder than I thought and you can't believe how two or three hours flys by when you are constantly in "feeding" mode. I am feeling much better from my surgery. I am no longer taking the perkaset pain killers and can manage the pain with some motrin every now and again. My incision is still a bit sensitive to the touch, but from what I understand from friends who had a c-section as well, that is normal and will happen for the next month or so. I can get in and out of bed without pain, which is really nice and starting today I am able to drive again, so I feel like I have a little more independence than I did before.

We are learning more of his signals...like when he is hungry he starts to suck on his fingers or sticks his tongue out and makes like an "O" with his mouth. He DOES not like his diaper changed and screams bloody murder when we change it...every time. I do have to say he is a pretty good sleeper...he goes anywhere between 2 to 5 hours at a time at night sleeping, so I feel pretty good because I am able to get a good chunk of sleep at night. I know once Henry goes back to work and baby care is primarily on me, I will be that much more tired and hopefully I will be able to handle whatever Alex should throw my way...figuratively speaking..not literally.

On a more adult front..Henry has been getting more leads for jobs. He has an interview with the University of Delaware next week sometime for a lab manager job..according to Henry he made the "short short" list. He has also been working with a couple of temp agencies regarding contract and temp to perm opportunities. So hopefully something will work out for us soon....
