Baby Shower Was This Weekend :)

Yesterday, Sunday, January 20th was my/Alex's baby shower!!!! Henry's cousins, Kym and Kris, graciously offered to host the shower for us and it was a great time! We had about 18 guests show up and each and every one of them spoiled us. We are so lucky to have such great family and friends! Henry and I don't have much that we will need to get now because we received so much at the shower!

Both my parents and Henry's parents were so kind to us. Henry's mom and dad bought us our pack n play, which I have been desperate to get since Alex will sleep in our room for the first few weeks at least, and I was planning on using the bassinet in the pack n play, a travel booster seat and our Winnie the Pooh hamper..Go Mom! My parents bought us our travel system (for those without babies this is the stroller/car seat combination) which is sort of a necessity to get Alex home from the hospital. She and my dad also gave Alex lots of cute clothes and the best thing was a quilt handmade by "nana" carlson! It is AMAZING. Once it is completley finished I will post pictures of it. I hadn't seen the quilt and it almost brought me to tears! Alex's Aunt Kim and Uncle Graig were very kind too...we got our bottle set, nursing pads, a cool turtle chew toy, socks (which we desperatley needed)and his bath center so he can be squeaky clean!

The food was great. Mom Greer made her famous chicken salad (which was especially delicious at the shower) and we had a lot of great finger type foods..cheese and crackers, fruit, tomatoes and mozz cheese (yum), etc. Henry's aunt was so sweet and offered to buy the cake for the shower. It was beautiful! I came from a local bakery that does a lot of wedding cakes and was delicious. It had blue icing and these really, really cute blue and white booties on it along with a "Welome Alexander" sign on it... We are saving the decorations...for what reason, I am not really sure, but hey..why not.

Our family and friends were so generous that it took TWO SUV's (My CRV and my Mom's Mazda)to get all of our stuff home! Now the process of sorting, organizing, and finding room for everything begins...I believe I am up for the challenge. :))

I also had a doctor's appointment last Friday. This one did not go as well as the others have gone :( Supposedly my blood pressure was higher than they would have liked to see and I gained a bit more weight than is considered "normal". Maybe I shouldn't have eaten that entire pint of Ben and Jerry's...hmmm..

They said that my blood pressure wasn't super high, but that they still wanted to monitor it a bit closer. So, back to the doctors I go this Friday. They are mainly concerned that I don't develop hypertension (which is worse for me than for baby). So while I am not thrilled, I am grateful that they are taking good care of me. However, the baby seems unaffected. His heart rate was great (154 bpm)and as I sit here and type this I can feel him (and see him) moving all around. His movements have gotten so much stronger and I can feel him in two places at once. I think he is about 4 lbs now... I also keep bumping my belly into everything..counters, the fridge door, any door in general...it is quite amusing actually....

The joys of being pregnant!
