So Many Updates......

Well, the past three weeks have been busy ones for Henry and I. It is hard to believe that we are on the tail end of the "busy" section of the year for us....In fact, so many things have happened, that I will take a few posts and do the updates separately because otherwise, this post would be VERY long.

I guess I will start with my grandmother. My grandmother went into the hospital on August 2nd for knee surgery. She wanted to get a knee replacement to enable her to get around better without using a walker or a wheel chair. The actual surgery went well and her knee did great, however, my grandmother steadily declined in the weeks following her surgery. She stopped eating and the doctors weren't sure why until they found some sort of salivary infection in her mouth. The salivary infection lead to the finding that she had pneumonia which sent her to the ICU. To make a long story short, she never really made it out of ICU. Eventually she was transferred to a life care hospital, where they tried to take her off the tracheotomy, however, her heart could not stand the stress and on Monday, September 17th she passed away.

While my family had been preparing for this eventuality to happen, it was still heartbreaking as she was one of the sweetest, kindest women I had ever had the fortune to know. I had somehow thought that she would always be there and I had always dreamed that she would be around for her great-grandson/daughter. I know she would have loved getting to know him/her. So that following week was CRAZY..not to add to the fact that the next week Henry and I were moving to PA. So on Wednesday morning I flew out of Atlanta to attend the funeral (and then flew back the following Saturday morning). We had the viewings that Thursday and then the funeral was on Friday morning. The funeral and the viewings were exactly as my grandparents lived their lives...simple, but elegant and without pretenses.

I keep telling my self that she will be looking out for Henry and I and the baby and that I am glad that I told her about the baby before she went into the hospital so she at least knew that she had a great-grand baby on the way. She will be missed very much by myself and my entire family.

I have attached a picture of her below so everyone can see how beautiful she was.
