I remember the first time I saw Henry. It was during orchestra class during my freshman year of high school. I thought Henry was cute, funny, adorable and had a great personality. I remember sitting in orchestra class laughing at his jokes and thinking he was the best thing since sliced bread (and those who know me, know how much I like bread). I did everything in my 14 year old power to get Henry to notice me. I flirted (horribly I admit now) and basically made a fool of myself to get his attention. I don't think it worked very well..
We remained friends and our friendship grew and grew. Sophomore year started and I still liked Henry. By now everyone knew of my feelings for Henry, except for Henry of course, and I was teased constantly. That year, our orchestra group went on a cruise to the Bahamas where we performed in different venues. Henry and I both went. My mother in law tells me now that when we were disembarking from the ship she noticed me waving good - bye to Henry. When she questioned Henry about me and who I was, his response was "She's like a little sister to me..." Hmm..not quite the response I was picturing or hoping for.
Sophomore year continued on and I finally gave up hope for anything ever happening between us. In our group of friends we had a lot of November birthdays, so we decided to do a huge birthday party at Chi-Chi's Mexican restaurant (fine dining, let me tell you). We had a great time and decided to head over to the mall for some after dinner shopping. In the car ride over to the mall Henry finally kissed me! Talk about mixed signals....and hence..Brynn & Henry began!
Needless to say, over 10 years later we are still going strong. Not to say we didn't have some tough times along the way...we definitely did. But we worked through them and are now stronger than ever. We were able to do some amazing things together like experience college together (Go Pitt!!), we did a study abroad program together and ultimately moved to Atlanta together after college graduation so Henry could pursue his PhD at Emory. We were married on August 21, 2004 in West Chester and will be celebrating our three year anniversary in a little over a month.
Time has definitely flown and we are now thinking babies!!! Hence the point of this Blog. OK, I have been thinking babies for years, but now we are getting to the point of actually doing something about it. :))
If you have made it this far in my first blog, I am creating this as a way for family and friends who are not close to us physically to share in our pregnancy together (when we actually get pregnant). My long term goal is to post blogs about how I am feeling, Dr's appointments, and pictures of everything as the pregnancy progresses. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for us! I hope you all enjoy! Everything will be in good taste of course.
I will try and scan a picture of Henry and I from back in high school along with a picture of us from our wedding and one from Christmas this past year with our dog Kodi so you can see how we have changed over the years.
