Big Brother Alex!!!

Today, the moment I had been most nervous about happened. We introduced Alex to his new baby brother, Wesley.

I don't know why I was so nervous, as usual, Alex continues to amaze me with his flexibility and his sweetness. The introduction went sooooo well!

The morning that Henry brought Alex to the hospital, Daddy and son decided to have some special bonding time and went to IHOP for pancakes. Anyone who knows Alex, knows how much Alexander LOVES his breakfast. So when he got to the hospital he was full and happy. I remember I didn't want to be laying in bed when Alex came in because I wasn't sure how he would react to seeing me there. So, I had the nurses help me into the chair in the room. I was sitting there when Alex came around the corner with his toy and his shirt that said "Big Brother" which we specifically bought for this day. I was holding Wesley and Alex came right up to me and gave me a huge hug and kiss. I then showed Alex his new baby brother.

Alex is the most AMAZING big brother! Immediately he wanted to hold, love, and kiss his baby brother. So of course we let him (with supervision of course). We didn't want to hold any part of Wesley back from Alex as we didn't want him to think he wasn't as important to us or that he couldn't be as much a part of Wesley's life as we are. Alex sat on another chair and with the support of the bobby pillow starting exploring the newness of his baby brother. He unwrapped Wesley's swaddle so he could look at his tiny toes and fingers, he sang the "ABC's" to Wesley, he gave Wesley lots and lots of hugs and kisses. Alex spent a good 2 hours with us being a family of 4 for the first time.

Here are some pictures of Alex meeting Wesley for the first time!
