Us Lange's had a very nice 4th of July weekend. We didn't have any really big family plans, we just stayed close to the house. We decided to take the long holiday weekend and get some projects done around the house. We decided to paint both our master bathroom and Alex's (aka the kid's bathroom). I am so very excited with the way the bathrooms are turning out. Especially since we have to work with some very ugly, very retro tiling on the shower and the walls. When the projects are completed (or as completed as they can be right now) I will post pictures!
Anyway, my little man is now 16 months old and he is growing so quickly. I looked at him today and he seems to have just sprouted over night! Alex is now walking...EVERYWHERE. One day he just started walking and he hasn't stopped since! We are learning to walk on different textures; he isn't so great with walking in grass or transitioning from one surface to another, but he is getting there. He is also talking a lot more now. He can say "hot" (or in Alex speak "ot"), "baby", "diaper", "more", "yes", "no", and "hi". He has conquered how to use a spoon AND a fork and is incredibly proud of himself in doing so...he gets the biggest smile on his face when he actually spears food with his fork and gets it into his mouth. He loves books..carries them everywhere and wants to be read to constantly. Nana came and babysat this week and afterwards went and bought Mr. Alex more books because she got tired of reading the same books to him over and over. The other cool thing he learned this month was: He can now climb the stairs! I was over at a friends house and he took off climbing the steps and before we knew it he was at the top! To say Mommy panicked was an understatement. Who knew he could get from the bottom to the top so quickly!
On the 4th we had a nice family picnic with Henry's parents and afterwards they stayed with Alex while Henry and I went to see a fireworks display in Wilmington. It was wonderful. It was the most gorgeous night and Henry and I were able to sit under the stars and just talk and be together...AND it was free. However, for a 15 minute firework display we ended up sitting in traffic for almost 2 hours, so not really sure if we will do it again, but it was fun.
Here are some pictures from the 4th of July and Alex's 16 monthaversary.
